Horoscope
One of the main purposes of Vedic Astrology is to analyse a horoscope, which is a map of the person’s karma. The horoscope is a snapshot of the planetary positions at the time of birth, which reflects the brought forwarded good and bad karmas from previous lives. One way to understand the role of planets in astrology is to use the analogy of a thermometer. A thermometer measures the temperature of the environment, but it does not create or influence it. Similarly, planets reflect the karmic patterns that we have accumulated from our past lives, but they do not cause or control them. Planets are like mirrors that show us our past karma, but they do not determine it.
By studying the horoscope, a Vedic Astrologer can understand the karma (prãrabdha) that a person has brought from their past life and predict how it will manifest in their present and future life. He can also provide guidance on various aspects of life, such as career, health, relationships, finances, education and spirituality, based on the person's strengths, weaknesses, tendencies and deeds.
There are nine planets in the horoscope, each representing (indicating) a different aspect of life based on our own actions. We can overcome the negative effects of our past karmas by following the path of righteousness, compassion, charity, spirituality, meditation, remedies, and performing various types of sacrifices for the benefit of all beings.
The horoscope is also a guide that can help us understand what is best for us, how to undo bad karmas, and plan major events like marriage, children, business, etc. By consulting an expert Vedic Astrologer, we can get insights into our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and challenges in life to plan the future. We can also learn about the auspicious and inauspicious times for various activities and make informed decisions accordingly.
Vedic Astrology can also offer solutions or remedial measures to overcome the challenges or difficulties that a person may face in their life. These solutions may include performing rituals, chanting mantras, donating to charity, fasting or meditating. The effectiveness of these solutions entirely depends on the person's intention, devotion, perseverance, faith and righteousness.

Today, the ‘Black Magic’ or ‘Negative Energy’ (in Sanskrit – Abhichara/Kshudra/Badha) is discussed more and more after looking at one's horoscope. This black magic cannot be established through analysing the horoscope because anyone's horoscope is created based on the time of birth and location. This horoscopic data remains same until we die. Had it been possible to find out black magic through horoscope, then that should have been done at the time of our birth itself. We can find out any negativity (black magic, evil eyes, enemey attacks etc.) through Prasna only!
